Management of PM e-VIDYA (One Class, One Channel, Radio Broadcast, Podcasts)

PM eVIDYA Program was announced by the Hon’ble Finance Minister, Government of India (GoI) on 17
May, 2020 as part of Atma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan. PM eVIDYA initiative aims to facilitate technology-
driven education with equity post COVID-19. It offers multi-modal access to digital/online education
for school and higher education. The 12 DTH Channels under ‘One Class-One Channel’ scheme through
SWAYAM PRABHA (Free to Air DTH Channels for Education) were launched on 01 September 2021. The
video programmes were produced by CIET, NCERT involving its various constituent units including National
Institute of Education (NIE), Pandit Sunderlal Sharma Central Institute of Vocational Education (PSSCIVE)
and Regional Institute(s) of Education (RIEs). Other government and non-governmental organisations
contributing to content creation include National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), Kendriya Vidyalaya
Sangathan (KVS), and Rotary India Literacy Mission (RILM), CDAC, Seed to Sapling, Arvind Gupta etc. The
details for which are given in table-2.

These 12 eVIDYA TV channels are run in 24x7 mode. Currently, the total duration of the fresh programmes
daily on the telecast is 2 to 3 hours (2 hours for classes 1-10 and 3 hours for classes 11-12). The pro-
grammes have been produced in both, Hindi and English mediums. From the month of September 2021
onwards all the primary classes 1,3, 4 and 5, a half an hour extra slot for ISL has been created; for class 2
half an hour slot for ISL content have been included in the existing two hours duration. The Class-wise
and subject-wise details of the videos have been given in Table-3.
