Joint Director’s Desk
It is a pleasure to share the activities undertaken by the Central Institute of Educational
Technology (CIET), NCERT during this quarter of the year. The gradual resumption of the
works after the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic saw increased offline activities in the
institution which was otherwise on hold due to the second wave.

The 25 AICEAVF was celebrated online on 30 August, 2021 which was simulcast on NCERT
Official YouTube channel. Shri Manoj Bajpayee, Actor, Hindi Cinema industry was the chief
guest and Prof. Ashok Ogra was the guest of honour for the event. Prof. Sridhar Shrivastava,
Director, NCERT; Major Harsh Kumar, Secretary, NCERT, Prof. Amarendra P. Behera, Joint
Director, CIET-NCERT, Prof. Shashi Prabha, Head, PRD, CIET-NCERT, Dr. G R Syed (Jury
member), Dr. Ritu Rajput (Jury member) and Dr. Sujith Parayil (Jury member) graced the
occasion. Out of the total 462 entries, 79 programmes (audio-22, video-28, bite-sized video
on Learning Outcomes (Los)-1, new media/ICT-20 and digital games-8) were selected for
awards. The winners were conferred with award money and certificates.
The Continuous Professional Development (CPD) under NISHTHA 2.0 (Secondary) and
NISHTHA 3.0 Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) capacity building programmes
were carried on through online mode through DIKSHA portal and mobile app alongwith
SWAYAM courses.
“Priya - The Accessibility Warrior”, a comic book was launched by Shri Dharmendra Pradhan,
Hon’ble Minister of Education, Ministry of Education and Dr. Virendra Kumar, Hon’ble
Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment,
Government of India on 24 August, 2021. The comic book named “Priya -The Accessibility
Warrior” is the outcome of collaborative efforts of Department of Empowerment of Persons
with Disabilities (Divyangjan), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and Department
of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education, Government of India. Apart from
this, eContents in Indian Sign Language (ISL) based on NCERT textbooks (Classes 1-5) have
been jointly developed and launched by ISLRTC and NCERT on 23 September 2021 on
World Sign Language Day.
The recordings of programmes, audio and video, both for various programmes under the
umbrella programme of PM eVIDYA were resumed in a full-fledged manner.
Rest of the activities of the institution were carried on in an usual manner. We will keep our
stakeholders informed on the works undertaken by our institution through the newsletter.
