The imperative for integrating technology in education is emphasized in Section 23.6 of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. This will transform teaching and learning approaches. The transformation of teaching and learning practices depends strongly on that connection. The policy aims to offer a technologically sophisticated learning environment that fosters flexibility, engagement, and personalized learning opportunities. The creation of adaptable and scalable eContent takes into account the various learning preferences, velocities, and capacities of students. By adapting educational materials to individual students' needs, educators may encourage a more inclusive and productive learning environment. Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) are available to develop eContent that are dynamic and interactive. These tools provide opportunities for teachers to create resources like simulations, games, tests, and interactive graphs that actively involve students in the learning process. These tools actively engage students, which boosts motivation, deepens comprehension, and promotes conceptual clarity.
Clause 24.4 (d) of the policy emphasis on creating a collection of educational materials in digital form. Mathematics demands deep conceptual understanding, making it challenging for students and teachers. Math anxiety and diverse learning styles make it difficult for teachers to cater to individual needs. Traditional teaching methods may have challenges to engage students and make mathematics interesting, also the effective assessments can be challenging. Digital resources offer interactive visualizations, personalized learning experiences, real-world connections, instant feedback, and remote, flexible learning, making mathematics education accessible to a wider range of students. GeoGebra is one of the mathematics software that integrates algebra, geometry, and calculus, offering benefits like visualization, interactive learning, concept reinforcement, problem solving, integration of subjects, and digital assessments. It promotes critical thinking and experimentation, enhancing students' understanding of mathematical concepts.
In this context, CIET-NCERT is organizing an online training series on ‘Development of eContent’, every fourth week of the month from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm from Monday to Friday to orient the stakeholders on developing eContent. As a part of a series for the month of August, CIET-NCERT is organizing five hours online training on “Developing eContent for Teaching and Learning of Mathematics” starting from 21st August 2023 till 25th August 2023 from 4.00 pm - 5.00 pm. The sessions will shed light on What? Why? How? of interactive resources.
