PM eVIDYA
About the project
PM eVIDYA Program was announced by the Hon’ble Finance Minister, Government of India (GoI) on 17 May, 2020 as
part of Atma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan. PM eVIDYA initiative aims to facilitate technology-driven education with
equity post COVID-19. It o ers multi-modal access to digital/online education for school and higher education. The
12 DTH Channels under ‘One Class-One Channel’ scheme through SWAYAM PRABHA (Free to Air DTH Channels for
Education) were launched on 01 September 2021. The video programmes were produced by CIET, NCERT involving
its various constituent units including National Institute of Education (NIE), Pandit Sunderlal Sharma Central
Institute of Vocational Education (PSSCIVE) and Regional Institute(s) of Education (RIEs). Other government and
non-governmental organisations contributing to content creation include National Institute of Open Schooling
(NIOS), Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), and Rotary India Literacy Mission (RILM), CDAC, Seed to Sapling,
Arvind Gupta etc. The details for which are given in table-2.
